## Info About Performer:Joy is an Austrian pop band, best known for the hits "Touch by Touch" and "Valerie".
## Other Info:The band was formed in Bad Aussee, a small Austrian town with 7,500 inhabitants. Freddy Jacklitsch (born 22 January 1960), Manfred Temmel (born 25 February 1959) and Andy Schweitzer were schoolmates, but after graduating they all pursued different careers. Freddy became a German teacher, Manfred became a DJ and Andy served in the police. Then somehow they got together and in 1984 they founded the band Joy. Their first single, "Lost in Hong Kong", was released in February 1985. It wasn't a big hit, but the press found the new band worth mentioning. And it wasn't in vain, as their next single, "Touch by Touch" (September 1985), immediately found its way into the European Top 20 Dance Charts. This song had all the characteristics that would become the band's signature. The band's first album was released as "Hello" and topped the charts for 5 weeks. This brought the band international success, selling their albums in over 30 countries.
In the summer of 1986, they went back into the studio to record their second album, "Joy And Tears". Based on the two albums, Joy played a series of concerts in America, then returned to Europe, touring Germany, Portugal, and Italy. Shortly after (in 1989), Andy Schweitzer, the co-producer and keyboardist of most of Joy's songs, left the band to pursue a solo career. Although he was given permission to use the original name "Joy" for the entire album, this album was released by different labels under different titles, such as "She's dancing Alone", or "Joy-3rd". Its style is quite different from the original album, the music is decidedly more peaceful, less groove-y.
In the following years, the invasion of rap and techno in Europe pushes Joy off the stage, although they return to the scene in 1992 with their melodic songs re-released with "Best of Joy". In 1994, the 2 original members of the group released a new single through MBG, entitled "Hello, Mrs Johnson". Then, after expanding with a new keyboard player, they released another single in 1995, entitled "Felicidad". The name of the new member of the group is Johannes Groebl (1960.01.30.) Although he is not as tall as the other members of the band, his personality is no less outstanding. Among his "hobbies" are Buddhism, and according to unofficial information, he has special healing powers.
In 1996, they recorded a full album titled "Full of Joy" with BMG, containing 12 songs. Unfortunately, for reasons not made public, the CDs were never released and the contract with BMG suddenly expired. It seems that no one currently has the rights to release the songs.
